| DIGHA SANKARPUR DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (DSDA) |
 |
Digha Planning Authority was initially constituted in the year 1990 with 16 Mouzas as its planning area. Later on its area was extended upto 42 Mouzas under Digha P.S. and Ramnagar P.S. with 8752.63 acres of land. Subsequently, the Planning Authority was transformed into Digha Development Authority with effect from 19.12.93 with a view to ensuring rapid growth of Digha & the adjoining areas.
The nomenclature of the Authority has been changed from Digha Development Authority to Digha Sankarpur Development Authority w.e.f 15.07.2004 vide U.D. Department Notification NO.1667-T & CP/C-2/2C-4/2001 dated 15.07.2004.
The objective of this Authority is to develop the twin Beach Resorts of Digha and Sankarpur as ideal tourist towns and to develop the adjoining areas for the benefit of the local people. To fulfil this objective the Authority drew-up an Action Plan for the entire 11th plan period (2007-2012) and the Authority has been executing the Schemes in phases depending upon availability of resources.
Digha Development Scheme came into existence in the year 1956 with an objective for development of Digha as an attractive tourist spot as well as development of a modern township at Digha. It acquired 1100 acres of land for comprehensive development of the area, more precisely as a beach tourist resort. The land use plan was prepared by the Town & Country Planning Branch of Development & Planning Department in the year 1974 and it was further revised in the year 1990. Very recently, Digha Development Scheme has been merged with the Digha Sankarpur Development Authority and the entire assets including the Tourist Establishments and the Lands have come under the possession of the Authority w.e.f. 1st April, 2007. |
